[Gokmul Dogam] Bium High-Dietary Fiber Soy Milk

Gokmul Dogam Bium High-Dietary Fiber Soy Milk (곡물도감 식이섬유 가득 비움 두유) is a thick, whole-bean Korean soy milk with 15 g of dietary fiber in every pouch. It’s made by Gokmul Dogam, the brand behind our Seoritae Black Bean Soy Milk, and it’s ready to drink straight from the pouch.

Bium means “emptying” in Korean, a fitting name for a lighter start to the day.

Most adults are advised to get 25–30 g of fiber a day, and most of us fall well short! It's not easy to eat the recommended amount of fruits & vegetables - especially for office workers.

This soy milk can help. One pouch covers 61% of the daily value for fiber in just 89 kcal.

What makes it different

It starts with real soy milk: 91.8% white-bean soy milk made from 100% Korean, non-GMO soybeans, ground whole with a patented millstone-style method so the skins and pulp stay in. Then two fibers go in: resistant maltodextrin from corn and prebiotic fructooligosaccharides (FOS), which also give it a gentle sweetness. There are just 1.98 g of sugars per pouch, and no stabilizers, emulsifiers, thickeners or artificial flavors.

What’s inside

White soybean soy milk 91.8% (100% Korean white soybeans; 8% bean solids), resistant maltodextrin 5.55%, fructooligosaccharides 2.25%, seaweed calcium and a pinch of Korean sea salt. Contains soy. Made in a facility that also handles milk, buckwheat, peanuts, wheat, tomato, pine nuts, peaches and walnuts.

How to drink it

Shake the pouch well, then drink one a day, chilled or at room temperature, with plenty of water through the day. It also works poured over granola or as a base for kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup). To warm it, pour it into a microwave-safe cup first; don’t microwave the pouch. If you’re pregnant, elderly, buying for young children or have a sensitive stomach, check with your doctor first. Individual results may vary.

What’s in the box

1 box contains 15 pouches of 180 mL. Each pouch has 89 kcal, 15 g dietary fiber, 6 g protein, 1.98 g sugars and 170 mg calcium. Made in South Korea.

Storage

It’s sterilized and aseptically packed, so it keeps at room temperature away from direct sunlight until opened. If you like it cold, refrigerate it a couple of days before drinking. Don’t freeze it, as that can cause clumping. Drink promptly after opening. The best-before date is printed on top of each pouch.

Good to know

Gokmul Dogam became very popular in Korea after Hong Jin-kyung, the South Korean model and TV host, revealed she’d been drinking this soy milk every day for three years. The brand then invited her on board, and she’s now its official ambassador.

Common questions

Is it sweet?
Lightly. The sweetness comes from prebiotic FOS rather than sugar, with 1.98 g of sugars per pouch.

Can I drink more than one pouch a day?
One pouch already gives you 61% of the daily value for fiber, so we recommend sticking to one a day.

My stomach feels a bit gassy. Is that normal?
Yes. Some gas or rumbling is a natural response to a fiber-rich drink.

[Gokmul Dogam] Bium High-Dietary Fiber Soy Milk

Gokmul Dogam Bium high-dietary fiber soy milk box and pouch

15 g of fiber in one pouch

Bium means “emptying” in Korean. This is Gokmul Dogam’s whole-bean soy milk with dietary fiber blended in, made for lighter, easier mornings. Each 180 mL pouch has 15 g of fiber and just 89 kcal.

15,282 mg of dietary fiber per pouch, compared with prunes, bananas and apples

More fiber than a bowl of fruit

Most adults are advised to get 25–30 g of fiber a day, and most of us fall short. One pouch gives you 15.28 g, 61% of the daily value.

To get the same amount from fruit, you’d need about 23 prunes, 6 bananas or 6½ apples.

Comparison from Gokmul Dogam, based on Korean and USDA food composition data.

Soluble and insoluble fiber blend

A balanced fiber blend

It combines soluble and insoluble fiber, roughly 80:20, so you get both kinds in one easy pouch.

Corn, the source of resistant maltodextrin

Fiber 01: resistant maltodextrin

Resistant (indigestible) maltodextrin is a soluble fiber made from corn starch. Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety recognizes it as a functional ingredient that may help regular bowel movements and may help slow the rise in blood sugar after a meal.

Individual results may vary.

Prebiotic fructooligosaccharides

Fiber 02: prebiotic FOS

Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are a prebiotic: food for the good bacteria in your gut. They may help regular bowel movements, and they give the soy milk its gentle sweetness.

Pouring Bium soy milk from the pouch into a glass

Low in sugar, lightly sweet

The sweetness comes from the prebiotic FOS rather than sugar. There are just 1.98 g of sugars in each pouch, so it fits easily into a lighter diet.

Glass filled with Korean white soybeans

Real soy milk, full of fiber

It starts with pure soy milk made from Korean white soybeans, then adds the fiber. No soy extract and no soy milk concentrate.

Korean white soybeans and a non-GMO soybean field

91.8% Korean white-bean soy milk

The base is 91.8% white-bean (baektae) soy milk, made from 100% Korean, non-GMO soybeans.

Upland field beans compared with paddy beans

Not all beans are equal

Gokmul Dogam uses firm, well-filled beans from cool upland fields rather than softer, watery paddy beans. They’re packed with nutrients and make a richer, nuttier soy milk.

Gokmul Dogam soy milk compared with ordinary soy milk

Thicker than ordinary soy milk

Side by side with regular soy milk, the difference shows. Gokmul Dogam’s is thick, creamy and full of body.

Illustration of whole soybeans

The whole-bean method

Whole-bean soy milk keeps the skins, the pulp and all the goodness in them. It’s harder to make than ordinary soy milk, which uses only the strained liquid.

Millstone illustration and Gokmul Dogam’s patent certificates

Ground with a patented method

Inspired by the traditional millstone, the beans are ground finely twice. The particles are small enough to go down smoothly while the flavor stays full, and the method is patented.

Gokmul Dogam’s nine-step production process

Made with care, step by step

Sorting, washing, roasting, steaming, two rounds of grinding, homogenizing, pasteurizing, sterilizing and filling, all in one carefully controlled process.

No stabilizers, emulsifiers, thickeners or artificial flavors

Nothing you don’t need

No stabilizers, no emulsifiers, no thickeners and no artificial flavors. Just soy milk, fiber and a pinch of sea salt, chosen to be safe for the whole family.

HACCP certificate

Made in a HACCP-certified facility

Every Gokmul Dogam product is made in a HACCP-certified facility, with food safety managed at every step from raw ingredients to packing.

Non-GMO soybean pods

Non-GMO beans

Only non-GMO beans, grown the natural way without genetic modification, better for you and for the land.

Gokmul Dogam boxes with paper handles

Less plastic in the box

Even the carry handle on the box is made of paper instead of plastic.

How to drink: shake well and store at room temperature

How to enjoy it

Shake the pouch well before drinking, as the natural bean solids settle. It keeps at room temperature, and one pouch a day is plenty.

Woman drinking a glass of water

Tip: drink plenty of water

Fiber works best with water. To get the most out of Bium, drink plenty of water through the day.

Kongguksu, cold soybean noodle soup

Kongguksu in minutes

Pour it over cooked noodles for a quick take on Korea’s favorite summer noodle soup.

Granola with soy milk

Granola + soy milk

Yes. Some gas or a rumbling stomach is a natural response to a fiber-rich drink, so there’s no need to worry.

Yes, it keeps at room temperature. If you like it cold, pop it in the fridge a couple of days before drinking. Once opened, drink it straight away.
