This policy explains what personal information Gochujar collects when you visit gochujar.com or place an order, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are
Gochujar (고추자) is an online store based at 23, Gwanggyohosu-ro 152beon-gil, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea (Business Reg. No. 851-10-00727). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Information we collect
- Order details: your name, shipping and billing address, email address, phone number if you provide one, and the items you buy.
- Account details: if you create an account, your login email and order history, plus any store credit or rewards balance.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or contact form, and reviews you choose to post.
- Device and usage data: your IP address, browser, approximate location, pages viewed and the site that referred you, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
How we use it
- to process payments, pack and ship your order, and complete customs forms;
- to send order confirmations, tracking numbers and replies to your questions;
- to handle refunds, damage claims and lost-parcel traces;
- to prevent fraud and keep the store secure;
- to understand how the store is used and improve it;
- to send our newsletter, only if you sign up.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that help us run the store and deliver your order, and only as much as they need:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout;
- payment providers such as PayPal and our card payment processors;
- carriers and customs authorities, including Korea Post, USPS and FedEx;
- service providers that power product reviews, rewards and store credit, and email.
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
International transfers
We are based in Korea and our service providers operate in Korea, the United States and other countries. By using the store, you understand that your information may be processed outside your home country, with safeguards provided by those providers.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep your cart and login working, remember your currency, and measure how the store is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the store may not work properly without them.
Marketing emails
If you sign up for our newsletter, we'll send you one short email when new products land. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to be removed.
How long we keep it
We keep order information for as long as we need it to fulfil and support your order, and for as long as Korean tax and e-commerce laws require us to keep transaction records (generally up to five years). After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent to marketing, at any time. Email daniel@gochujar.com and we'll respond promptly. Some records may need to be kept where the law requires it.
Security
Our store and checkout run on Shopify's secure, encrypted platform, and card details are processed by our payment providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children
Our store is not intended for children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
