Black Bean Milk + 21 Korean Grains

[Gokmul Dogam] 21-Grain Seoritae Black Bean Soy Milk

Gokmul Dogam 21-Grain Seoritae Black Bean Soy Milk (곡물도감 21곡 서리태 가득 콩물두유) is a thick Korean black bean soy milk with 21 Korean grains blended in, made by Korean grain brand Gokmul Dogam and ready to drink from the pouch.

It’s the same whole-bean seoritae soy milk as our Gokmul Dogam Seoritae Soy Milk, with a spoonful of 21 Korean grains added, from barley and brown rice to black sesame and oats. The taste is rounder and nuttier, like a bowl of Korean multigrain rice in a glass.

Gokmul Dogam roasts whole, top-grade seoritae, then grinds them with a patented method that keeps the skins and pulp. The bean solids stay in the drink, which gives it its thick texture. In Korea it holds a 4.9 out of 5 rating from more than 34,000 reviews.

Editor’s note

This 21-grain is our favorite version: it’s slightly sweet, easy to drink, and easy to make a regular habit. We have this for a light dinner when we’ve had a big lunch and aren’t very hungry. It became part of our routine when we started trying to lose weight.

What’s inside

Seoritae soy milk 99.3% (made from 100% Korean seoritae black soybeans; 7.5% bean solids), Korean 21-grain powder 0.5% (barley, brown rice, white soybeans, glutinous rice, black rice, Job’s tears, sorghum, black beans, yakkong beans, wheat, black barley, foxtail millet, red beans, corn, buckwheat, proso millet, mung beans, seoritae, black sesame, sesame and oats), Korean sea salt and a little sucralose.

No added sugar, stabilizers, emulsifiers, thickeners or artificial flavors. Made with non-GMO beans.

How to drink it

Shake the pouch well and drink it chilled or at room temperature. You can also pour it over granola or use it as a base for kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup). To warm it, pour it into a microwave-safe cup first; don’t microwave the pouch.

What’s in the box

1 box contains 15 pouches of 180 mL. Each pouch has 72 kcal, 6.2 g protein and 0 g sugars. Made in South Korea.

Storage

It’s sterilized and aseptically packed, so it keeps at room temperature away from direct sunlight until opened. We recommend refrigerating it when it arrives, as it tastes best chilled. Drink promptly after opening. The best-before date is printed on top of each pouch.

Good to know

Contains soy, and the grain mix includes wheat, barley and buckwheat. Made in a facility that also handles milk, peanuts, tomato, pine nuts, peaches and walnuts. Made by Nonsan Strawberry Land Co., Ltd. and shipped from Korea.

Common questions

Is it sweet?
Only gently. There’s no sugar (0 g per pouch); a little sucralose to balance out the taste. It tastes rich, nutty and slightly sweet.

How is it different from the Seoritae soy milk?
It adds 0.5% Korean 21-grain powder for a rounder, nuttier taste, plus a little sucralose. The Seoritae soy milk has no sweetener at all.

Why does it need shaking?
Natural bean and grain solids settle at the bottom. A good shake mixes them back in.

Does it need to be refrigerated?
Not before opening. Still, we suggest keeping it in the fridge once it arrives, because it tastes best chilled.

[Gokmul Dogam] 21-Grain Seoritae Black Bean Soy Milk

Gokmul Dogam 21-grain seoritae soy milk pouch and a glass of soy milk

Black bean soy milk, plus 21 Korean grains

It starts with the same thick, whole-bean seoritae soy milk, then adds a spoonful of 21 Korean grains, from barley and brown rice to sesame and oats. The taste is rounder and nuttier.

Ingredient label showing 99.3% seoritae soy milk

Real soy milk, not extract

The label reads: seoritae soy milk 99.3%, made from 100% Korean seoritae, plus 0.5% Korean 21-grain powder and a pinch of sea salt. No soy extract, no soy milk concentrate.

Ingredients from Gokmul Dogam's product label.

Bowls of the 21 Korean grains in Gokmul Dogam 21-grain soy milk

21 Korean grains in every pouch

Barley, brown rice, white soybeans, glutinous rice, black rice, Job's tears, sorghum, black beans, yakkong beans, wheat, black barley, foxtail millet, red beans, corn, buckwheat, proso millet, mung beans, seoritae, black sesame, sesame and oats.

Each grain brings its own mix of protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals, all in one easy pouch.

Thick black bean soy milk being poured

Thick like kongmul, not watery

In Korea, kongmul is the rich ground-bean milk used for summer noodle soup. That's the texture here: thick enough to feel like a small meal rather than a drink.

Black beans ground on a millstone

Ground whole, skins and all

Inspired by the traditional millstone, the beans are ground whole with their skins, so the bean solids and goodness end up in the pouch, not strained away.

Top-grade seoritae black beans compared with broken beans

Only top-grade seoritae

Gokmul Dogam doesn't use broken or damaged beans, which can spoil in storage and lose nutrients. It uses whole, top-grade seoritae that pass strict selection for shape, skin and quality.

Point 01 from Gokmul Dogam.

Millstone grinding soy milk and Gokmul Dogam's patent certificate

A patented whole-bean method

Ordinary soy milk filters out the okara (bean pulp) and the skins. Gokmul Dogam's patented whole-bean process keeps both, along with the anthocyanins and vitamin E in seoritae skins and the dietary fibre in the pulp.

Point 02 from Gokmul Dogam: patented bean particle-size control system.

Black beans roasting in a pan

Step 1: roasted first

Before grinding, the beans are roasted to bring out their deep, nutty flavour.

Millstone grinding black soybeans

Step 2: ground with the patented method

Next, the whole beans go through the patented whole-bean grinding process, skins and pulp included.

Soy milk production line

Step 3: a richer, thicker taste

The result is a soy milk with a thickness and flavour you can tell apart from the first sip.

Glass being filled with smooth black bean soy milk

Thick, yet smooth to swallow

Rich doesn't have to mean gritty. It's thick but goes down smoothly, with a toasty, nutty finish.

Point 03 from Gokmul Dogam.

Gokmul Dogam's three masters: bean grower, bean selector and soy milk maker

Made by three masters

From growing the beans to sorting them and turning them into soy milk, each step is in the hands of a specialist with decades of experience. Together they make what Gokmul Dogam calls Korea's real kongmul soy milk.

No stabilizers, sugar, emulsifiers, thickeners or artificial flavours

Nothing you don't need

No stabilizers, no sugar, no emulsifiers, no thickeners and no artificial flavours. Instead of sugar, it's lightly sweetened with a little sucralose.

Non-GMO, Cheongja No.5 variety, 100% Korean beansNon-GMO seoritae pods on the plant

Non-GMO, 100% Korean beans

Better soy milk starts with better beans. Gokmul Dogam uses non-GMO seoritae of the Cheongja No.5 variety, 100% grown in Korea.

HACCP-certified soy milk production line

Made in a HACCP-certified facility

It's produced on a sterile, optimised line in a HACCP-certified facility with strict hygiene control.

Gokmul Dogam gift box with a paper handle

Less plastic in the box

Even the carry handle on the box is made of paper instead of plastic.

How to drink: shake well and store at room temperature

How to enjoy it

Shake well before drinking: natural bean protein settles to the bottom. Keep it at room temperature, since very cold temperatures can make it clump.

Kongguksu, cold soybean noodle soup, made with soy milk

Kongguksu in minutes

Pour it over cooked noodles for Korea's favourite summer noodle soup, no soaking or grinding beans needed.

Granola + soy milk

A light but filling breakfast: pour it over granola instead of milk.

Q&A

Q1. When is the best time to drink it?

Any time you like. It's filling enough for a quick breakfast or a snack between meals.

Q2. How is it different from the Seoritae soy milk?

It's the same thick seoritae base (99.3% here), with 0.5% Korean 21-grain powder added for a rounder, nuttier taste, plus a little sucralose. Our Gokmul Dogam Seoritae Soy Milk has no sweetener at all.

Q3. Is it sweet?

It has 0 g sugars per pouch. It's lightly sweetened with a little sucralose, so it tastes gently nutty rather than sugary.

Q4. Why do I need to shake it?

Because it's real, whole-bean soy milk, the natural bean solids settle to the bottom. Give the pouch a good shake before drinking. Keep it at room temperature and don't freeze it, as very cold temperatures can make it clump.

Q5. How does it keep so long without preservatives?

It's sterilized and aseptically packed, so it keeps without preservatives. Once opened, drink it straight away.

Q6. Can I drink it warm?

Yes. Don't microwave it in the pouch; pour it into a microwave-safe cup first. If a thin skin forms on top as it heats, that's natural bean protein (like yuba).

Q7. Can children or pregnant women drink it? Any allergens?

It's a food, not a supplement, but if you're pregnant, or buying for young children or older family members with health concerns, check with your doctor first. It contains soy, and the grain mix includes wheat, barley and buckwheat.

Q8. Where is this made - South Korea?

All products on Gochujar are proudly made in South Korea, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
