Premium Quality, Korean Yugi Ware
[Nothyang] General Round Yugi Plate
We are very excited to introduce Nothyang to Gochujar!
Nothyang was distinguished as the #1 Top Winner in "2020 Korea Best Brands" for Yugi Brassware.
They are a premium Yugi brand from Korea and their products have featured in hit Korean dramas like Itaewon Class, Private Lives (사생활) and 2 Days & 1 Night (2박1일).
This is Nothyang's General Round Yugi Plate.
The plate is impeccable.
Its natural golden color shines from any angle - a beautiful choice for plating & styling Korean home dishes.
The plate is roughly 22cm in diameter.
It's the perfect size for plating 1-person set meals - fit on some rice, few banchans and a mini salad onto one plate.
Or alternatively, use it as a communal plate - for Korean dishes like spicy pork bulgogi, japchae or stir-fry.
What separates Korean Yugi (also known as Bangjja) from other brozenware is the alloy ratio between copper and tin. Yugi uses an exact ratio of 78% copper and 22% tin.
Because of this ratio, Korean Yugi ware has a natural golden sheen that gets brighter over time (after routine washing and cleaning).
Yugi also has self-sterilizing properties.
It kills and prevents viruses, bacteria and microorganisms from growing on its surface. This is why Yugi was used to serve the Korean Royal Family and Court during the older days.
In recent years, Yugi has made a comeback in the modern Korean kitchen. It's in vogue ... and become a popular gift for newlyweds and solo-livers.
If you've started with the 1-Person Yugi Set, consider adding this general round plate to your collection!

A look into Nothyang's Yugi making process (no sound)
1. Each piece is handmade - not identical
Nothyang makes their Yugi piece by hand (i.e. not bulk made in large-scale factories).
As a result, there may be subtle differences in size and look (i.e. minor scratches/blemishes/stains).
Note: These minor imperfections do not qualify as "damaged' status.
2. DOn't use stainless steel scrubbers/wool
Instead, use a regular 3M Dishwashing Sponges (use the dark-green, coarse side).
3. SOAK IN VINEGAR BEFORE FIRST USE!
Before first use, soak the Yugi ware in lukewarm water - with a touch of vinegar.
How much? Use a ratio of 2 Cups Water to 1 Tablespoon vinegar.
Soak for 30 mins - 1 hour (not any longer - set a timer).
Then rinse it off again with soap & water. Then dry-off completely with a towel.
4. I See STAINS On MY YUGI - what is this?
It's because the Yugi was stored with moisture on it (i.e. water droplets).
Remove the stain by scrubbing it off...
Use the backside of a dry 3M Dishwasher Sponge (the coarse, dark green side).
Important: Both the Yugi Ware & the 3M Sponge should be dry when scrubbing.
Gently scrub-off the stain - the stain will come off as a fine black powder.
Rinse it off with water and dry it off completely with a kitchen towel.
As you use and clean your Yugi ware - its golden sheen will get brighter!

Scoop-on cold foods, and the plates will stay cold!
FAQ ABOUT YUGI
A: No. If you use - and wash - your yugiware regularly, the golden sheen becomes brighter (assuming proper care).
Yes, you may smell a slight metallic smell from Yugi when you first use it.
(This is the smell of the copper - it's normal, and part of the break-in process)
To remove the smell, do the following steps:
1. Soak the Yugi in a mixture of hot water & vinegar (ratio mentioned above) for 10 minutes.
2. Then wash it with soap & a dish sponge - followed by a rinse under hot running water.
3. Place it back into the water & vinegar mixture for an additional 10 minutes.
4. Then scrub it again with soap & dish sponge - followed by a rinse under hot running water.
5. Then dry it off completely!
This should remove the smell.
But if you still smell a faint smell, don't worry...
After a few weeks of regular usage - and washing - it should disappear completely.
No, Yugi ware is for plating and serving only (not for cooking in heat).
Do not place it into the microwave or over any stovetop.
After washing the Yugi ware, dry it off completely with a kitchen towel.
There should be no wet spots - or moisture left - on the Yugi.
Please re-read the last section in the Product Notice Section (in our product page above).
The golden sheen never disappears. You just have to reveal it!
First - while it's dry - scrub-off any visible stains. Use the backside of 3M Kitchen Sponge (make sure the sponge is dry). You'll see the stain come off as a fine black powder.
Then fill a small pot with hot water. Add a few large splashes of vinegar and few pinches of baking soda (doesn't have to be exact). Let it rest in this mixture for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, rinse-off the Yugi. Then dry it off completely with a kitchen towel!
Note: If baking soda & vinegar isn't working too well. you can also soak the Yugiware in Tomato Juice (yes, it works!).
Fill a large pot (or other large container) with equal parts tomato juice & water (1:1 ratio). Soak the yugi in this tomato mixture for 30 minutes. Afterwards, wash it off with water and soap. Then rinse it off again and dry it off completely with a kitchen towel!
