Black Bean Milk + Korean Matcha

[Gokmul Dogam] Matcha Seoritae Black Bean Soy Milk

Gokmul Dogam Matcha Seoritae Black Bean Soy Milk (곡물도감 말차 서리태 가득 콩물두유) is a thick Korean black bean (Seoritae) soy milk with a touch of Korean-grown matcha, made by Korean grain brand Gokmul Dogam and ready to drink from the pouch.

It's the same whole-bean seoritae soy milk as our Gokmul Dogam Seoritae Soy Milk, with a little matcha stirred in. The seoritae keeps it deep and nutty; the matcha adds a fresh, grassy finish, like a black bean latte you don't have to make.

Most soy milk on the shelf is made from soy extract or concentrate and sweetened with sugar. Gokmul Dogam takes a different approach. Only whole, top-grade seoritae make the cut. They're roasted, then ground whole with a patented method that keeps the skins and the pulp, so the bean solids end up in your cup instead of being strained away. In Korea, the range is rated 4.9 out of 5 from over 34,000 reviews.

So what's inside?

What's inside: seoritae soy milk 99.03% (100% Korean seoritae black soybeans, 7% bean solids), Korean matcha powder 0.7%, Korean sea salt and a little stevia. No sugar, stabilizers, emulsifiers, thickeners or artificial flavours. Non-GMO beans. Contains soy. Matcha naturally contains a little caffeine. Made in a facility that also handles milk, buckwheat, peanuts, wheat, tomato, pine nuts, peaches and walnuts.

How to drink it: shake the pouch well, then drink it straight, pour it over granola, or use it as the base for a matcha-tinged kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup). To warm it, pour it into a microwave-safe cup first; don't microwave the pouch.

In the box: 15 pouches of 180 mL. Each pouch has 66 kcal, 6 g protein and 0 g sugars.

Storing it: room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Don't freeze it, as very cold temperatures can make it clump. Drink straight after opening. The best-before date is printed on top of each pouch.

Good to know: Gokmul Dogam became very popular in Korea after Hong Jin-kyung, the South Korean model and TV host, revealed she’d been drinking this soy milk every day for three years. The brand then invited her on board, and she’s now its official ambassador.

Common questions

Is it sweet?
It has 0 g sugars per pouch. A little stevia gives it a gentle sweetness that rounds out the matcha.

How is it different from the Seoritae soy milk?
It adds 0.7% Korean matcha for a fresh, grassy finish, plus a little stevia. The Seoritae soy milk has no sweetener at all.

Does it need to be refrigerated?
Not before opening. It's sterilized and aseptically packed, so it keeps at room temperature without preservatives.

[Gokmul Dogam] Matcha Seoritae Black Bean Soy Milk

Gokmul Dogam matcha seoritae soy milk pouch with a glass of soy milk

Black bean soy milk with a hint of matcha

Ingredient label showing seoritae soy milk 99.03% and matcha powder 0.7%

Real soy milk, not extract

Plenty of soy milk is made from soy extract or concentrate. The label here reads seoritae soy milk 99.03%, made from 100% Korean seoritae with 7% bean solids, plus 0.7% Korean matcha powder.

Ingredients from Gokmul Dogam's product label.

Green tea fields in Korea

Matcha grown in Korea

The matcha comes from carefully selected green tea leaves grown in a clean region of Korea. It adds a fresh, gently sweet tea note to the nutty seoritae.

Gokmul Dogam's five soy milks: Seoritae, 21-Grain Seoritae, Matcha Seoritae, Kamut Oat and High-Fiber

Six soy milks, one for every taste

Gokmul Dogam makes six kongmul soy milks. Three are made with seoritae, the Korean black soybean, and three with Korean white soybeans (baektae). Here’s how they compare:

Thick black bean soy milk being poured

Thick like kongmul, not watery

In Korea, kongmul is the rich ground-bean milk used for summer noodle soup. That's the texture here: thick enough to feel like a small meal rather than a drink.

Black beans ground on a millstone

Ground whole, skins and all

Inspired by the traditional millstone, the beans are ground whole with their skins, so the bean solids and goodness end up in the pouch, not strained away.

Top-grade seoritae black beans compared with broken beans

Only top-grade seoritae

Gokmul Dogam doesn't use broken or damaged beans, which can spoil in storage and lose nutrients. It uses whole, top-grade seoritae that pass strict selection for shape, skin and quality.

Point 01 from Gokmul Dogam.

Millstone grinding soy milk and Gokmul Dogam's patent certificate

A patented whole-bean method

Ordinary soy milk filters out the okara (bean pulp) and the skins. Gokmul Dogam's patented whole-bean process keeps both, along with the anthocyanins and vitamin E in seoritae skins and the dietary fibre in the pulp.

Point 02 from Gokmul Dogam: patented bean particle-size control system.

Black beans roasting in a pan

Step 1: roasted first

Before grinding, the beans are roasted to bring out their deep, nutty flavour.

Millstone grinding black soybeans

Step 2: ground with the patented method

Next, the whole beans go through the patented whole-bean grinding process, skins and pulp included.

Soy milk production line

Step 3: a richer, thicker taste

The result is a soy milk with a thickness and flavour you can tell apart from the first sip.

Glass being filled with smooth black bean soy milk

Thick, yet smooth to swallow

Rich doesn't have to mean gritty. It's thick but goes down smoothly, with a toasty, nutty finish.

Point 03 from Gokmul Dogam.

Gokmul Dogam's three masters: bean grower, bean selector and soy milk maker

Made by three masters

From growing the beans to sorting them and turning them into soy milk, each step is in the hands of a specialist with decades of experience. Together they make what Gokmul Dogam calls Korea's real kongmul soy milk.

No stabilizers, sugar, emulsifiers, thickeners or artificial flavours

Nothing you don't need

No stabilizers, no sugar, no emulsifiers, no thickeners and no artificial flavours. Instead of sugar, it's lightly sweetened with a little stevia.

Non-GMO, Cheongja No.5 variety, 100% Korean beansNon-GMO seoritae pods on the plant

Non-GMO, 100% Korean beans

Better soy milk starts with better beans. Gokmul Dogam uses non-GMO seoritae of the Cheongja No.5 variety, 100% grown in Korea.

HACCP-certified soy milk production line

Made in a HACCP-certified facility

It's produced on a sterile, optimised line in a HACCP-certified facility with strict hygiene control.

Gokmul Dogam gift box with a paper handle

Less plastic in the box

Even the carry handle on the box is made of paper instead of plastic.

How to drink: shake well and store at room temperature

How to enjoy it

Shake well before drinking: natural bean protein settles to the bottom. Keep it at room temperature, since very cold temperatures can make it clump.

Kongguksu, cold soybean noodle soup, made with soy milk

Kongguksu in minutes

Pour it over cooked noodles for Korea's favourite summer noodle soup, no soaking or grinding beans needed.

Granola with soy milk

Granola + soy milk

A light but filling breakfast: pour it over granola instead of milk.

Soy milk bingsu with red beans

Soy milk bingsu

Freeze it, shave it and top it with red beans for a nutty, not-too-sweet bingsu.

Soy milk cream pasta

Soy milk cream pasta

Swap the cream for soy milk for a lighter, nutty cream pasta.

Q&A

Q1. When is the best time to drink it?

Any time you like. It's filling enough for a quick breakfast or a snack between meals.

Q2. How is it different from the Seoritae soy milk?

It's the same thick seoritae base (99.03% here), with 0.7% Korean matcha added for a fresh, grassy finish, plus a little stevia. Our Gokmul Dogam Seoritae Soy Milk has no sweetener at all.

Q3. Is it sweet?

No sugar is added and it has 0 g sugars per pouch. A little stevia gives it a gentle sweetness that rounds out the matcha.

Q4. Does it contain caffeine?

Matcha naturally contains some caffeine, but at 0.7% of the drink the amount is small. If you're sensitive to caffeine, keep that in mind.

Q5. Why do I need to shake it?

Because it's real, whole-bean soy milk, the natural bean solids settle to the bottom. Give the pouch a good shake before drinking. Keep it at room temperature and don't freeze it, as very cold temperatures can make it clump.

Q6. Can I drink it warm?

Yes. Don't microwave it in the pouch; pour it into a microwave-safe cup first. If a thin skin forms on top as it heats, that's natural bean protein (like yuba).

Q7. Can children or pregnant women drink it? Any allergens?

It's a food, not a supplement, but if you're pregnant, or buying for young children or older family members with health concerns, check with your doctor first. It contains soy and a small amount of matcha.

Q8. Where is this made - South Korea?

All products on Gochujar are proudly made in South Korea, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
