[Bangyudang] Korean Sweet Pumpkin Misugaru
We're back with another misugaru - this time it's Korean Sweet Pumpkin!
Korean Sweet Pumpkin (also known as Kabocha) is an excellent source for Vitamin A. In fact, a single serving of squash provides 70% of your daily needs. Best of all, it's fat-free, sodium-free, cholesterol-free and a good source for fiber.
To make this specific misugaru, locally-grown sweet pumpkins are dried, roasted and ground into a fine powder. It's then mixed into a ratio of ground Barley (44%), Brown Rice (13%) and Soybeans (13%). The Sweet Pumpkin provides an extra vitamin boost to the nutrition-rich roasted grains.
So what does it taste like? It remind us of butternut squash - but slightly sweeter. For a healthy breakfast shake, we recommend mixing a few scoops of this Misugaru with honey and milk (exact ratio listed below).
Misugaru can be used in many different ways. Drink it cold in the summer. Or mix it with hot milk for a soothing latte. Sprinkle it over yogurt or use it as a topping for Patbingsu Shaved Ice!
I enjoyed drinking this alone or mixing it in with my iced coffee or matcha latte. It's really delicious and filling.
I was curious about whether I would end up liking this but it is SO. GOOD. You don't need much sweetener and it has a really nice nutty taste. It's also super easy to blend if you have anything like a milk frother to blend your milk and misugaru up with it works perfectly. It's a great little afternoon snack, I like it both hot and iced but I think I prefer hot. Thanks Gochujar!
I wasn't sure about the freshness when I ordered due to the distance from Korea to California. I ordered two and they came timely and FRESH!and delicious! Reminded us our old times in Korea. We are almost out and will definitely order some more soon.
Thank you very much!!!
Tastes so good. It's honestly the best way I can drink milk during my pregnancy. It masks the milk taste and so healthy with added nutrients!
This one had a sweeter taste than the cocoa misugaru. It's nice in the morning with some oat milk.
