Made with 100% Korean Chili Peppers
[Chilkab Nongsan] 100% Korea-Grown Gochugaru
Chilkab Nongsan's Gochugaru is made from 100% Korea-grown red chili peppers.
The chili peppers are grown in the countryside of Sunchang (located in North Jeolla province). There, the sun shines bright for many months and the climate is ideal for growing peppers and other vegetables. It's home to Korea's largest food manufacturers and many chili pepper growers.
Take a look and you'll see that Chilkab's gochugaru is finely ground (as opposed to coarsely ground which is used for Kimchi making). The flakes have a slightly dark red color. This gochugaru is perfect for use in seasoning marinades or Korean soups and stews.
So how spicy is it? It has a medium-level spice - which is great for everyday homecooking.
Finally, Chilkab Nongsan takes pride in their high-quality production facilities and equipment. They have received HAACP certification and the peppers are thoroughly inspected vetted and cleaned for quality and taste.
If you're looking for a well-balanced Korea-grown gochugaru that you can use for homecooking, this is it!

What is Gochugaru?

Gochugaru is made by drying-out and crushing Korean red chili peppers (Taeyang Chili Peppers). Gochugaru has a multi-layered flavor profile: it's spicy, sweet and slightly smoky. It's a unique flavor that's essential to Korean cooking.
So how spicy is it? The spice level varies by producer, but it's usually between 4000-8000 Scoville units (similar heat level to a Jalapeno Pepper).
