Bring tradition to the kitchen
[Nothyang] Traditional Korean Brass Chopstick Set (Classic Design)
Yugi is Back in vogue.
Traditionally, every Korean household owned a full set of Yugi (Bangjja) brassware. From tableware to cutlery, Yugi was the material of choice for its superb quality, beautiful golden luster, and refined craftsmanship.
In the past, Koreans used porcelain bowls during the summer to bring lightness and freshness to the table. But when winter arrived, porcelain was swapped for Yugi — its warm, golden hue made food look more appetizing, and its excellent heat retention kept dishes warm for longer.
After the Korean War, however, the rise of consumer plastics nearly wiped out Korea’s brassware industry. Most workshops closed their doors, and only a handful of artisans kept the tradition alive, preserving the meticulous bangjja technique passed down through generations.
Among them, Nothyang stands out for its modern interpretation of traditional Korean Yugi.
Today, we feature their beautifully designed Classic Spoon & Chopstick Set — handcrafted using the time-honored bangjja method, where heated brass is hammered repeatedly to achieve perfect density and form.
Each piece is made with a precise alloy of 78% copper and 22% tin, resulting in brassware that is strong, durable, and resistant to bending. You’ll immediately feel its premium quality the moment you hold it.
Nothyang has been honored as the #1 Top Winner in “Korea Best Brands” for Yugi Brassware for five consecutive years (as of 2024).
Nothyang is also ISO 9001 certified for quality management, ensuring every step of production meets global standards.
If you’re drawn to traditional Korean tableware, this is the perfect place to start — a timeless piece that also makes a thoughtful, memorable gift.
Offered in 2- or 4-person sets. Holders sold separately.

Yugi (Bangjja) brassware is created by melting a 78:22 ratio of copper to tin, producing its signature golden tone and natural antibacterial properties.
This ratio must be exact to produce authentic Korean Yugi (Bangjja) ware.

Once melted, the alloy is carefully cast into molds to shape timeless pieces of Korean dining ware.

After casting, the pieces are meticulously hand-polished by artisans to unveil Yugi’s natural golden glow and timeless beauty.

Every Nothyang piece is carefully inspected and tested to ensure its authenticity and natural anti-bacterial properties.

Important Notes
All products are handmade, so there may be slight variations in size, capacity, or appearance. As a result, minor differences in color or shape may occur. Please note that returns or exchanges for these natural variations may not be possible.
1. For the first month after purchase, wash the utensil and wipe it thoroughly dry with a soft cloth after each use.
2. When storing salty or acidic foods — such as soy sauce, pickles, or foods seasoned with strong sauces or vinegar —the copper surface may oxidize and change color over time. This is a natural reaction.
3. When being used for the first time - with hot food such as rice or soup - small white spots or marks may appear. This is a normal characteristic of copper and not a defect.
4. Due to the natural properties of copper, the surface will gradually develop a warm golden tone after 2–3 months of use.

Precautions When Using
1. Using steel wool may scratch or damage the surface, so do NOT clean with steel scrubbers.
Instead, use a regular 3M Dishwashing Sponge — the dark-green, coarse side — or Nothyang's Yugi scrub (details below).
2. Do NOT use dishwashers, dish dryers, sterilizers, ovens, microwaves, or induction cooktops — Yugi products should not be exposed to very high heat or electronic appliances.
3. Due to the natural properties of Yugi, exposure to skin oils or air may cause slight discoloration over time, which can reduce the product’s shine.
(Tip: Avoid touching the surface with bare hands, especially if giving it as a gift,as fingerprints may leave marks that darken gradually)
4. When not in use for an extended period, store in a dry, well-ventilated area away from moisture.

How to Care for Brassware (Yugi)
By following the instructions below, you can enjoy your beautiful, golden brass bowls and utensils for decades!
1. Before First Use - Soak in Water With Vinegar!
1. Mix warm water and vinegar in a 30:1 ratio — about 5 tablespoons of vinegar per 2 liters of warm water — and soak the brassware for about one hour.
2. Afterwards, rinse it off with dish soap & water
3. Then dry-off thoroughly with a towel.
2. Washing & Storing
Wash the Yugi products as you would regular tableware, with dish soap and sponge.
After washing, dry thoroughly with a clean cloth to remove all moisture — any remaining droplets may leave dark stains as they dry.

3. Keep It Shiny (Polish Periodically)
If your brassware has become heavily discolored or looks weathered, try using a copper polishing cream, such as Wright’s Copper Cream.
Gently rub following the grain of the metal. This will restore the original color and create a thin protective coating on the surface.

4. Removing Stains or Oxidation Spots
If you notice visible stains or oxidation marks, gently scrub the surface with a Yugi scrubbing pad or the green scouring side of a dish sponge.
Make sure both the pad and the brassware are completely dry — no water should be used during polishing.
How to use Nothyang's Yugi Scrub Pad

STEP 01 - Make sure both the Yugi piece and the polishing pad are completely dry (absolutely no water involved). Then, gently rub the dry surface in the direction of the grain.
(For the sides, move left to right - as shown in the video below. For the bottom, move in circular motions)

STEP 02 - After polishing, apply a mild dish soap with a soft sponge and wash thoroughly.
STEP 03 - Rinse well, then dry-off completely with a clean cloth before storing.
Tip: Use the silver side of the Nothyang Yugi Scrub Pad for light tarnish to achieve a bright shine. For heavier tarnish, use the black side for stronger polishing.

Silver Side: for light cleaning or shine maintenance
Black Side: for heavier stains (oxidation) or deeper polishing
