This is a gochugaru made with locally-grown peppers from Andong province, Korea.

(The peppers are imported from China - 100% Korea Grown!)

Andong is a city in Gyeonsangbukdo province which is famous for farming and the home of signature foods like: Andong Jjimdak (braised chicken), Heotjesabap (a type of bibimbap) and Andong Soju.

The region is also famous for its Spicy Red Chili Peppers. There, the chili peppers grow large, plump and importantly, have a distinct, piquant spice!

After harvesting, these Andong peppers are sorted for quality, then dried in the open sun for weeks - to accentuate that deep, spicy flavor.

Then, the dried peppers are grated at a medium-level coarseness (image below).

Use this delicious gochugaru to spice-up your favorite Korean stews, stir-fries and banchans - including Kimchi.
